Entrance exam panic!
Jul 22, 2009 – Entrance exams are looming and parents are starting to panic! Their plan of attack seems to be giving children an edge over other students by forfeiting the sports and drama getting in private tutors over the summer holidays.
According to a spokesperson at Winchmore Tutors Ltd. "Record numbers of parents have rung to request private tutors over the summer holidays to prep children for the upcoming entrance exams including 11+ and common entrance which start in November. There seems to be more of a panic then last year with some parents looking to book up to 10 hours of lessons a week during the holiday forfeiting traditional summer holiday pursuits such as sports and play schemes. Private tuition is an effective way of consolidating knowledge and helping with the transition between school years during the holidays. Tutors can expertly focus on areas that parents may not have any experience. With school places becoming harder to come by parents are trying everything to ensure they get their children into top schools, even if that means paying for extra tuition outside of term time."
“Private tuition can work wonders during the summer and it is a good way of making sure that students keep up with school work for the 6 week break”
